Is it Time for a New Toilet?
The toilet often is not something that is regularly thought about unless a problem occurs. However, we rely on toilets everyday and we need them to be in proper working order at all times. As with any household fixture or appliance, there will likely come a time when it will need to be replaced. If you run into any of the following issues be sure to reach out to a local plumber to talk about your options for installing a new toilet.
Cracks in the tank could allow for water to leak out. Not only will this result in a wet floor but it means that your toilet will be running at low efficiency rates and you'll be wasting money on your water bill. If you notice any cracks in the tank or elsewhere in the toilet be sure to speak with a plumber as they can inform you about repair and replacement option.
If your toilet is wobbling it could be a few different issues. More than likely it just means that the mounting bolts of the toilet have come loose and need to be tightened up. However the problem could be much more serious. If the toilet is leaking it could have allowed water to soil the ground underneath it, causing it to rot. This would make the floor unsteady which could result in the rocking and wobbling.
Constant repairs are necessary
If you have needed the assistance of a plumber or had to conduct some repairs more than once or twice in the past few years it is likely best to simply replace the toilet than continue toying with it every time something goes wrong.
If your toilet starts to have clogging issues it may not be operating properly. Low water flow levels could be to blame if you find yourself pulling out the plunger more often than you used to have to.
Your toilet is outdated
Even if your current toilet seems to be working properly you should consider replacing it, especially if it was manufactured before 1994. This is because the federal mandates require toilets produced after that year to use only 1.6 gallons of water, opposed to the multiple gallons that older toilets would use. A newer toilet will help save you money on your water bill.
If you're experience any trouble with your bathroom fixtures be sure to reach out to a plumber to get an honest opinion and to learn more about your options.
